Junior Section Council Meeting held on Tuesday 9th November 2010 in 1st Ballyclare Presbyterian Church Halls at 8.00p.m.

The Battalion President, Mr Drew Buchanan MBE welcomed everyone to 1st Ballyclare and the Battalion Secretary, Mr Frank Picton led the opening devotions. The Battalion Secretary then announced the winners of the Fitzell and McCune Trophies, which were presented to the winners by the President. Mr Colin Millar then gave a very informative and inspiring talk on working with boys. The Councils then met to discuss with their respective section business.

JUNIOR SECTION COUNCIL MEETING

QUIZ KIDS

The battalion heat was held on Friday 8th October 2010 in 1st Larne. Five Companies took part, 1st Larne, 8Th Carrickfergus,1st Whitehead, 1st Kilbride and 1st Greenisland. The winners were 1st Larne who went on to the NID Final and finished in 5th place. Thanks to 1st Larne for hosting this event.

UNI-HOC COMPETITION

Will be held on Friday 26th November 2010, entry closes on Saturday 13th November 2010, everyone had been advised of these details via e-mail. The competition will be held in 1st Ballyeaston starting at 7.00p.m.sharp. Anyone attending should have their teams ready to play as there are no rooms available for changing, this will also be sent via e-mail to all teams taking part.

5-A-SIDE FOOTBALL

Area heats to be arranged, Ballyclare and Carrickfergus both arranged at separate venues for Friday 10th December 2010. Details will be forwarded to all concerned via e-mail. Wesley Magill to arrange Larne area heat and also the final in Larne Leisure Centre, date to be confirmed, possibly 14th January 2011.

Quiz Night

The Annual joint Quiz Night will be held on Sunday 5th December 2010 in 1st Ballyclare at 3.00p.m. It is hoped there will be a good attendance.

YOUNG MUSICIAN OF THE YEAR

Closing date for entries is 6th December 2010 to Rathmore House. The Competition will be held on Saturday 15th January 2011 in Killead Presbyterian Church Halls.

SWIMMING GALA

Closing date for entry will be 7th February 2011; entry forms will be included in the Junior Section Newsletter from Rathmore. The Gala will be held on Saturday 26th February 2011 in Larne Leisure Centre providing the renovation work has been completed. It is hoped that Officers/Leaders from East Antrim Battalion will be available on that date to help with time keeping etc at the venue.

FIGURE MARCHING COMPETITION

The Annual Battalion Figure Marching Competition will be held on Friday 4th March 2011 in 8th Carrickfergus at 7.00p.m. Everyone should have received the programme via e-mail already. At present only three companies are taking part, more would be better.

NID SPRING COMPETITION: Stool Ball

Everyone should have received details of this in the September Newsletter from Rathmore. The rules are also to be sent out via e-mail. Sally Picton to enquire if 1st Whitehead is available for the Battalion area heat to be held on Friday 18th March 2011. Anyone wishing to take part to should e-mail gem.armstrong@virgin.net on or before 4th March 2011 ( a reminder will be sent out nearer the date). NID Final will be held on Saturday 26th March 2011 in Ballymoney.
