East Antrim Battalion Overseas Team
During the summer of 2008, and as part of our 40th Anniversary celebrations, it is hoped to send a team of officers and boys to undertake practical and outreach work "overseas". At this stage the most likely destination is Romania in Eastern Europe, working in partnership with established Christian relief and aid organisations.
As we celebrate and give thanks for 40 years of the Boys Brigade and Gods blessings on us, this is an opportunity to sharing this in a practical and spiritual way with others. There will be an opportunity for practical service as we assist in the development and support of existing humanitarian projects. Our visit will provide encouragement for those working long term on the projects, providing Christian fellowship and outreach to other young people.
Whilst details of location and project work remains to be finalised it is envisaged it will include renovation/refurbishment work, together with assisting in camps for local children, including games, crafts and storytelling. The trip will last between 10 - 14 days and cost in the region of £ 450.00 - £ 500.00 per person; we will also have to undertake fundraising to assist with travel costs and cover the purchase of the materials etc.
An initial meeting with those intending to travel will take place in Ballylinney Church halls on 27 September 2007. For further details, or to register your interest, please contact Andrew Hamilton.
We would ask you to remember this work in you companies, churches and personal prayers.
