Intermediate 5 A Side 2006

This competition attracted an excellent turn out of 14 teams. The competition was split into 4 groups, with the four group winners going through to the semi finals.

3rd Carrick progressed from group 1, with 2nd Larne and 1st Whitehead failing to progress. Group 2 saw 1st Ballyclare A progress with 1st Ballynure, 5th Carrick and 1st Raloo all departing early. Group 3 saw 1st Greenisland progress with 1st Ballyclare B, 2nd Carrick B and 1st Mullaghdubh all missing out. In group 4, 7th Carrick went through at the expense of 2nd Carrick A and 1st Larne.

The semi finals saw 1st Ballyclare meet 3rd Carrick and 1st Greenisland meet 7th Carrick. Match 1 was Ballyclare against Carrick and Ballyclare progressed to another final with a 1-0 victory. Match 2 saw 1st Greenisland beat 7th Carrick 1-0 with the golden goal in extra time. The final was a very good game with the two best sides on show over the afternoon

opposing each other. Both sides had looked unbeatable all day and so inevitably the final was a tight affair. 1st Greenisland triumphed in the end thanks to a goal from Ainsley Gray.
