Mini Golf Competition

The first competition of the new session took place on Saturday 3rd October at Greenacres Golf Centre. The minigolf is new to the calendar but those who took part had a really good afternoon.

3 companies provided 8 boys for the inaugural event. All the players played round first of all to get a seeding score. From this, the person with the lowest score played the person with the highest score, the person with the second lowest score played the person with the second highest score and so on. This gave four quarter finals. Lee Apsley from 1st Ballyclare progressed from the quarter finals to play Jonny Hodge from 4th Carriok in the semi finals. Ryan McCrory from 4th Carrick played Warren McKeown from 3rd Ballyclare in the other semi final. Lee Apsley and Ryan McCrory both made it through their semi finals to set up a tense final.

Lee went in front early on but lost his lead soon after and never got in front again. Ryan, having finished 10 shots behind Lee in qualifying, holed every putt with great assurance and won the match 3 and 2.

This was a good first run at the tournament and hopefully more will participate next time. Well done Ryan McCrory 4th Carrick on being the first winner.
