Table Tennis

1st Ballynure hosted this competition for the second year running and once again did a great job.

Ballynure is the perfect venue as it is central to all the companies in the Battalion and also has the luxury of three tables.

The three tables were required on the night as 24 junior boys and 21 senior boys turned up, representing 9 companies. This was a great representation and hopefully a sign of things to come throughout the current session.

In the junior competition, Michael Richardson from 1st Ballynure was the winner, beating Adam Boyce from 4th Carrick in the final.

For the second year running, Michael Richardson and Matt Sewell won the junior doubles, this time beating Will Aston and Christian Robinson of 8th Carrick in the final.

The standard in the senior competition was very high towards the end. In the singles, a great final was played out between Mark Turner of 1st Ballyclare and Neil McFall of 1st Larne. Mark Turner came out victorious.

In the doubles, Andrew Evans and Peter McAllister from 1st Greenisland beat Mark Turner and Chris Stevenson of 1st Ballyclare. That was the second year in a row Peter McAllister won the doubles.

A huge thank you should go to 1st Ballynure for agreeing to host the competition and to John Ayre (1st Ballynure) and Kenny Cameron (8th Carrick) for the wonderful way they made all four competitions flow all night. A great skill in itself!
