On Saturday 25th November 2006 nine teams of footballers met at Oakfield Community Centre in Carrickfergus to take part in the Carrickfergus heat of the Annual East Antrim Battalion 5-a-side Football Competition.

For the first time all nine companies in the Carrickfergus area took part, 1st Greenisland, 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th Carrickfergus.

The companies were split into two groups and each company played four games each. The winners and runners up of each group then played a further two matches to decide which two teams would go to the final in Larne on 12th January 2007.

It was a very tense and exciting time for all the boys who took part.

The two teams going to the final in January are 7th Carrickfergus and 8th Carrickfergus.
